The Saanich Police Department is actively seeking experienced Canadian Police Officers to join our team. If you have successfully completed recruit training, at an accredited police college and are actively serving or have served within 3 years, you are considered an experienced applicant.
Process is as follows and can be completed within approximately 1-1.5 months.

EXPERIENCED CANADIAN POLICE OFFICERS WITH INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE:
An example of this would be, if you had 10 years of service with a non-Canadian police department and have immigrated to Canada. Are currently serving with a Canadian police force for 5 years, we will review your experience and could potentially provide wages and vacation hours equivalent to a 15-year member.

Please note: Applicants who are current serving members of a police force outside of Canada, do not qualify for exemptions. They will be required to immigrate to Canada without sponsorship and receive their Permanent Resident status prior to applying. Once PR status is received, applicants will complete the same process as a recruit applicant and if hired will be required to successfully complete the Police Recruit Training Program. Upon completion of the Police Recruit Training Program, an applicants international policing experience with accredited and approved documentation may be applied.

To complete the forms you will need to have Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Acrobat Pro installed on your computer.
Once it has been determined that candidates meet the minimum requirements, a recruiting file will be established, and the recruiting officer will contact the candidate. Exempt officers will be required to complete the majority of steps of the Saanich Police Recruiting Process.
Overview of the Recruiting Process
- Submit Resume, Cover letter, Applicant Questionnaire, Polygraph Integrity Questionnaire and Application Terms and Conditions.
- Staffing Interview (Can be done remotely).
- Psychological Assessment (Can be done remotely).
- Polygraph Test (On a case-by-case basis).
- Background Investigation.
- Medical Evaluation (Attended in person and the cost is covered by the Saanich Police Department).
- Chief’s interview (Attended in person).

- Copy of your Birth Certificate
- Copy of your Official Canadian Citizenship Certificate or Permanent Resident Card
- Copy of your Driver's License

Once the background investigation stage is achieved, the following documentation will be required:
WHEN COMPLETED SEND USING THE UPDATE APPLICATION BUTTON
- Copies of any training courses completed with current police agency
- Two Letters of Reference:
- One from a serving police officer commenting on your abilities
- The second letter can be from another police officer or a person in your community
- A recent Performance Appraisal
